Questar Green Living

Since our inception, we have been fundamentally committed to quality, innovation and intelligent stewardship of the development, construction and management of our communities. Going forward, we are broadening this foundation of our success through our newest division, Questar Green Living.

This division will be dedicated solely to the development of ecologically conscious, green properties. From land acquisition and building design to construction and management, Questar Green Living will employ environmentally sensitive, low-impact processes throughout our operations-for the benefit of our residents, neighbors, communities and beyond. We will also seek LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

Our approach will be rooted in sustainable, green building principles. Our highly efficient buildings will offer a full array of environmental features, such as low-E windows and energy-efficient HVAC systems. Reduced-pollutant building strategies will be established as well, including the use of natural products and/or formaldehyde-free synthetics. The use of low-volatility organic compounds (VOC) and environmentally friendly paints, sealants and cleaning products will be considered also.

Water conservation will also be an important component in our communities. Landscaping that is drought-resistant and requires less watering and maintenance will be prevalent, as well as low-flow plumbing fixtures and equipment, and energy-saving appliances. Naturally, resource conservation and recycling programs will be implemented and promoted as well.

These and other earth-friendly practices will be showcased in our first sustainable development, Harmony Place at Town Center, located in Bowie, Maryland, in Prince George's County. Working in conjunction with top environmental consultants, we're creating a community that will be a benchmark for sustainable, green living environments in the Mid-Atlantic region.
